Julius Brauckmann
Julius Brauckmann (*1986) studied at the HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg (2006-2012) and at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (2013-2017). He has won grants of Stiftung Kunstfonds, Kunststiftung NRW and the Art Prize from the Kunstverein Siegen. His work has been exhibited, amongst others, at the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst Aachen, Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen and Fotomuseum Winterthur. Julius Brauckmann is represented in private and public collections, including the Kunsthaus Kollitsch, Klagenfurt and the Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf. He lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Julius Brauckmanns Arbeit „Vibration Addition“ besteht aus einem handelsüblichen Fotostativ und einer handelsüblichen Consumer-Kompaktkamera, deren Display dauerhaft eingeschaltet ist. Zwischen Kamera und Stativ hat Brauckmann ein selbst konstruiertes, mit einem Akku betriebenes und stark vibrierendes Zwischenstück montiert. Die Arbeit wird im Raum platziert, wobei sie durch die Vibrationen ein Eigenleben entwickelt und dort umherwandert. Das auf dem Display der Kamera sichtbare Bild zeigt dabei Live-View-Aufnahmen der von der Kamera aufgenommenen Umgebung, wobei der interne Bildstabilisator der Kamera und die Vibrationen miteinander konkurrieren und verzerrte, verwackelte, „gehackte“ Bilder erzeugen.
