Fabian Hesse & Mitra Wakil
Fabian Hesse & Mitra Wakil (*Augsburg and Kabul) have studied in Munich and Vienna. In their collective practice they create encounters with digital bodies, using performative glitches, scans and databases as an unlimited toolset of sculptural practice. In their collaborative and participatory processes, non-human actors such as AI and algorithms, form synonymous elements of their work process. They are involved in several Fablabs and Hackspaces. In the context of their professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts HGB Leipzig they are building up a research institute for digital materialities. Exhibitions and projects of Hesse and Wakil happen in public space as well as at Pinakothek der Moderne Munich, Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin, Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart, Autonomni kulturni centar Zagreb, Common Room Foundation New Delhi amongst others. They live and work in Berlin and Munich.
